Como alcaldesa del municipio de Arrecife deseo que estas fiestas tan populares se desarrollen dentro de toda normalidad y brilIe la ale~ría . el sentido del humor y el jol~orio en las caIIes de nuestro municipio como se hacía antaño cuando las parrandas marineras. haciendo sonar sus típicos acordeones. animaban a los carnavaleros que- no dudaban en entrar a las casas de sus vecinos, los cuales abrían sus puertas para todo aquel que quisiese tomar al~o o comer un buen sancocho hecho con el pescado que por aquel entonces solían re~alar los armadores por estas fiestas. Eran tiempos en los que el carnaval se vivía con mucha ale~ría , respeto y tolerancia entre todos los .uecinos. este espíritu carnavalero del que disfrutaba en la vid a añorada Arrecife no debe decrecer ni un ápice. El personal del Ayuntamiento de Arre-cife ha depositado toda su ilusión y dedicación a pro~ramar una serie de actos que esperamos sean del a~rado de todos: pasacalles. murgás. reinas, desfiles de carrozas. dra~ queens. comparsas. batucadas y un sinfín de personajes salidos de la imalJinación de cada uno d@ ustedes. Por tanto, les animo a que disfruten del Carnaval de Arrecife 2006 esperando que esta fiesta tél,l1 especial para nO~(0,t'ros continúe creciendo y se consolide cada vez más. tray€ªdono muchas satisfacciones. �Encarna Páez Toledo Concejala de Festejos El presente pasa a nuestro alrededor mientras soñamos. un año más. con el pasado del Arrecife marinero afrontando el futuro prometedor e inmejorable de nuestro viejo y añorado Puerto del Arrecife. La Rueda Astral nos re~enera reconciliando y resúibleciendo los vínculos de amistad donde los pueblos se reenc:-ueh tran consi~o '" ~ mismo. "' Arrecife fue siempre careta de cartón. másoara revestida y ale~ría en las Cuatro Esquinas pero ahora . en los nuevos nie:mpos q e nos ha tocado vivir. es eso y al~o más. Arrecife e:s aisfJ;a de seda. música y meren~ue. salsa. re~atón y pasodoble. Los peje voladores se revisten de ci~arrones mientras las viejas loras se disfrazan de mariposas y los bur~aos de sarantontones. Es tiempo de risa. carcajada y de fiesta . El momento adecuado de usar el verbo criticar y olvidar el de insultar. La crítica a todos nos hace libres y mejores siempre que sea bien intencionada. De Arrecife a Cádiz. pasando por la Graciosa. de Puerta Tierra a las murallas del Puente de las Bolas. el Atlántico nos trae la brisa fresca con olor a maresía. can~rejos. sebas y Carnaval. Chiri~otas. comparsitas. mur~ueros. pitos. jareas. mojama. ~uitarras . timples. bombos y cajas. son todos instrumentos de un mismo pueblo divertido que expresa sus emociones con ale~ría y cariño. Estación de amor festiva y pasional. de darle de lado al trabajo ya que en "Carnavales" el Trabajo embrutece. tira a la espalda y llena el cuerpo de ronchas. Es hora. en todo caso. de llenarse de moretones. cardenales y curas que sarna con ~usto no pica.
